In 2016, Scott Paton was convinced that the United States was on the verge of engaging in a two-front war: one with Iran and the other involving Taiwan and China. Fortunately, the previous administration in the United States was defeated in the presidential election, and these potential wars were put on the back burner.

Believing strongly that the world was going to shut down and that travel would be restricted due to these conflicts, Scott flew to Morocco to see the world before it was too late. This decision marked the beginning of an eight-year journey of slow travel around the globe.

He visited countries ranging from Canada in the north to Peru in the south; from Morocco in the west to Jordan in the east, and from Norway down to South Africa.

As it turned out, Scott was correct—the world did shut down, though not because of war, but due to a virus. This experience solidified his belief that everyone needs a Plan B. Most people don’t plan or prepare for adverse events until it’s too late.

The mission of Escape to Mexico now is to help people set up their Plan B so that if something happens like what happened in Ukraine or the Gaza Strip or even if it happens in your country, you have options.

The problem is, if you wait until the last minute, those options may not be available. Creating a successful plan requires the ability to extrapolate from the past to the present and into the future, discerning the direction in which your country is heading.

If you live in Canada, the United States, Australia, England, or Europe, the current direction of your country is concerning. You really need to design a Plan B.

Everyone’s an individual. What’s ideal for you may not be ideal for someone else. There’s no one-size-fits-all, but we think we can help you get started in the right direction.
